26" (66 cm.) Tenor Saw
A scaled down version of the baritone. The vocal range is slightly less and its voice is raised one and a half notes:
- 2 Octaves
- Excellent Sustain
- Rich, Mellow voice
- Wider body
- Increased Volume
|
|
The baritone is an overwhelming favorite - however, if you are searching for a specific range to match a music selection, then you might opt for this saw.

Bass Bow
Believe it or not! The Musical Saw is a stringed instrument. The blade is essentially one huge string! To get this blade to sing, the minimum requirements is a cello bow. To get superior volume and sustain you need the greater hair density provided by a bass bow. Bass bows have a broader "footprint" on the blade to drive the louder notes and stronger sustain.
This bass bow has unbleached horse hair and a German frog to allow you to bear down harder on the blade.

Economy Tip Handle (Cheat)
The cheat attaches to the tip of the saw and takes most of the pressure off of your left hand. Playing the saw without a cheat is certainly possible, however the pressure on your left thumb quickly tires your hand out and will necessitate pausing frequently for breaks. You also will be limited as to the amount you can bend the saw. This will definitely make playing the saw a whole lot more fun!
Warning: these Tip Handles only work with my saws (or any saw that has a 1/4 inch hole drilled at the tip) - If your saw doesn't have such a hole, please select "Charlie's Cheat" below which will accommodate any saw.

Rosin
There is nothing fancy about this rosin - nor does there need to be! Musical saw players go through a lot of rosin to get the saw blade to vibrate. We're not looking for expensive rosin to deliver a tiny amount of finesse. This rosin is the cheapest I could find - and will deliver performance every bit as good as any rosin costing many times more.
- If you have any fiddle playing friends you might also want to let them know about this web site as I sincerely doubt they'll find rosin cheaper - anywhere.

Musical Saw Microphone
I've mounted a mic onto an economy Tip handle (cheat). This keeps the mic close to the saw at all times without the danger of banging it during your performance. 14 foot cord, on/off switch, comes with 1/4" and 1/8" jacks. The mic is detachable so you can use your cheat with or without the mic.
- Tip: When playing with a mic, have the sound technician pull out all treble and just use the bass. This will remove the annoying bow noise. "Delay" or "Reverb" is also a nice effect.
| Reminder - since this microphone is mounted to our economy cheat - you will need a 1/4" hole in the tip of your saw (which all of our saws have) |
If you already have a mic and just want the black bracket mounted to the wooden handle (You get everything except the mic) - price without the mic is $24.99

- This instrument sounds very similar to a jews harp, however, ever so much more versatile. Plus you can sing/talk while playing. To play: press it against the side of your mouth and change the shape of your mouth cavity while you strum.
Construction:
- 36" long.
- Made of Cherry or White Oak with Ebony peg.
- Reinforced Peg hole to prevent splitting.
- Comes with a pick and guitar string.
Incredibly easy to play (even easier than the Musical Saw!) - you'll play it right out of the box.

Musical Saw Accompaniment CD's
The following CD's are not Musical Saw CD's - but I have selected them as providing wonderful Accompaniment for the saws. I am not that great a saw player, yet I am able to play nicely with the majority of these songs. Plug one of these CD's into your player and play along with. Once again! There is no musical Saw on any of the following CD's - they are strictly to be used for accompaniment.
